Indoor area rugs are suitable ONLY for indoor use. They are not recommended for main indoor entryways in harsh climates or extremely heavy traffic. Most are best suited for light or moderate traffic situations and all are cut pile nylon. Pile heights can range from a low ¼” height up to over ½” high, with the lower pile height being somewhat more durable for heavier traffic. Indoor Rugs generally have bound edges and/or felt backing as standard, but some styles such as our inlaid Designer 38 or Custom 54 rugs have an optional vinyl profile border and non-skid backing available as well. They are very popular for trade shows, private offices, waiting rooms and other indoor secondary rooms where a “plusher” look is desired.
Request the “Indoor Rug” style if you prefer a “bound” edge area rug look and the following applies:
ENTRY MATS
Entry mats can be used either Indoors or Outdoors and will have rubber or vinyl backing/edges. There is a very wide variety of face materials to choose from depending on the application. We will help you decide which style is best so it is very important that you provide us with as much detail as possible when requesting your quote. A brief description between indoor and outdoor mats appears below:
Most Indoor entry mats are a commercial height cut pile nylon (1/4” or less). These mats can also be used outdoors under cover. We suggest “under cover” because nylon mats are not totally UV resistant, so if left outdoors exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods, they can fade over time. They can withstand heavy traffic and be commercially laundered or for smaller sizes, just clean in any standard wash machine.
Outdoor entry mats generally have a “berber” or “waffle” texture so they can double as scraper mats as well. Most have a higher absorbency than the nylon indoor mats. Outdoor mats usually consist of UV stable polypropylene or olefin which does not fade like the nylon indoor mats when exposed to direct sunlight. These mats are generally heavier duty mats and most are of the inlaid variety or solid rubber, though the olefin mats are usually flocked.
PLEASE NOTE: The type of exposure, placement and traffic conditions are extremely important for us to know when suggesting a suitable product that will perform the way it was intended. Therefore, please include this information when requesting your quote whether it be via our online form OR a direct email request.
